ITW Plant Manager in Olathe, Kansas

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The following duties are not all encompassing, but represent what we call ‘the 80’. These are the must-haves and are things the plant manager will embrace to excel at.

EHS Goals

  • Lead to maintain the site and division’s zero lost time and zero medical treatment injury performance.

  • Maintain regulatory compliance through execution and oversight of the facilities EHS compliance program.

  • Sponsor the site EHS committee, lead by example, support improvement ideas and drive shared responsibility for excellent performance.

Quality Goals

  • Commit to the division quality policy and goals.

  • Drive continuous process improvement and best practice implementation of quality standards and ITW 80/20 Toolbox methodologies.

Cost Control Goals

  • Manage inventory levels and ERP transactions. Ensuring periodic cycle counts are completed, inventory transactions are completed accurately and on time in the ERP system.

  • Oversee reduction and control of customer credits through focus on reducing operational mistakes and improving service.

Customer Service Goals

  • Work to provide ITW Caliber Service through proper stocking of product to ITW standards and methodologies.

  • Lead the production teams to plan and execute their activities to the highest standards following a well applied 80/20 approach providing MRD level stocking.

  • Lead the maintenance department to deliver improving levels of equipment uptime and on time completion of maintenance tasks.

  • Lead the shipping teams to deliver high quality order management, order picking and packing, and timely shipping to customers.

Leadership & Talent Development Goals

  • Lead your team with integrity and passion, to always do the right thing, to prioritize appropriately, to use and apply the ITW 80/20 toolbox and to aggressively strive to deliver the best products and best service to our customers.

  • Support your team to complete projects to drive improvements across operations.

Other Goals

  • Work with Operations Director to become specialized in the ITW 80/20 methodology and suite of ITW Toolbox tools.

  • Travel as needed for business needs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in engineering, business, or some other relevant field

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role.

  • Continuous improvement toolset experience is a plus. A willingness to learn and use the ITW 80/20 Toolbox is a must.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Outlook. Strong written, verbal and collaborative communication skills.

  • Knowledge and Experience of OSHA PSM elements is a plus.

OTHER COMPENTENCIES

  • Proficient in the use of an ERP system, Microsoft Navision preferred.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, manage priorities and work independently as well as on a team.

  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and willing to take initiative with focus on the key initiatives and opportunities for improvement and growth.

  • Self-starter, highly motivated, follows directions well and can work with little or no supervision.

  • Able to adapt effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive manner; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

Must have the skill sets to identify, analyze and resolve problems using 80/20 and continuous improvement methods.

Must demonstrate (through example of prior experience) the ability to apply logic and reasoning in a difficult business situation, preferably in a regulatory setting. Must possess strong analytical skills to develop and interpret qualitative and quantitative information in reports and analysis.

Detail orientation — Focused on ensuring that all data and activities are managed at an appropriate level of detail to ensure an accurate demand and supply plan.

Process orientation — Understanding the connection between groups and activities, and the ability to organize people and activities to achieve expected outcomes. Insight into opportunities to simplify and integrate process steps to maximum effect.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be capable of meeting standard office and laboratory demands of data entry, sitting, standing, squatting, etc.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT / PROCESS / PRODUCT / ETC.

Must accept responsibility for the proper use of equipment, processes and products made available by the company.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be capable of working in a standard office environment. Must be capable of working for extended periods of time in a manufacturing environment, which may require exposure to heat, cold, machinery and controlled chemicals.

  • Must be able to travel overnight periodically (<5%) with advance notice.

  • Responsible for workspace and any assigned company property, equipment or materials.

SAFETY

  • Must be capable of and willing to accept all work rules, safety and environmental instructions, policies and procedures, as it applies to the job.

  • Might work with chemicals, some might be hazardous.

  • Follow all safety precautions and methods.
