Garmin Manager Software Quality in Olathe, Kansas

We are looking for a full-time Manager of Software Quality for our headquarters in Olathe, KS. The selected candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating Software Quality activities and staff to ensure that product testing and customer objectives are accomplished within schedule and funding guidelines.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\n\n\n\tDirect Software Quality staff in the definition and testing of products working collaboratively with other departments including Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance and outside partners\n\tProvide strategic leadership and organizational planning for the global Software Quality organization\n\tReview project status and reports, provide feedback and direction to the engineering staff as needed, and facilitate communication with top management and other departments.\n\tReview staffing requirements based on product plans and direct recruiting efforts or assignment of resources based on approved plans\n\tWork with Engineering management to establish budget framework required to support the product testing function based on staffing requirements and capital equipment required to support product testing activities \n\tProvide leadership to Software Quality Team Leaders, and make provisions for the training and evaluation of software quality staff\n\tDrive continuous improvement of test processes including metrics\n\tParticipate in selection and deployment of software quality related tools and procedures\n\tEnsure optimal communication with customers (internal and external as applicable)\n\tWork with Human Resources to address employee relations issues as needed including writing and conducting annual performance appraisals\n\n\n

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

\n\n\n\tParticipate in recruiting associates as needed\n\tEncourage and demonstrate the Garmin culture throughout the organization\n\tLead the personnel development efforts of new Team Leaders and Managers\n\tPerform other job-related duties as assigned\n EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:\n\n\n\tBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a field relevant for the successful performance of this job description\n\tExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)\n\tMust possess a minimum of 10 years of Software Quality Testing experience with documented success in managing business level projects and technical human resources\n\tExperience and/or demonstrated capability in leading multiple software quality teams. \n\tDemonstrates a commitment to success and drive to achieve project and organizational goals.\n\tMust demonstrate a solid understanding of the complete software development lifecycle and software quality processes relevant to Garmin’s business needs\n\tExcellent problem solver with strong analytical skills, impeccable business judgment, and decision-making abilities\n\tDemonstrated experience working effectively with cross-functional teams including Legal, Finance, Engineering, Sales and Marketing, and Operations \n\tAbility to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\n\tMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others\n\tExceptional time management and organizational skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritize\n\tSuperior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality\n\tStrong passion for Garmin, including its mission, products, and values\n\tHigh level of initiative, energy and drive with a results-oriented track record and commitment to success.\n\tProven ability to operate with discretion and protect highly confidential information\n\tFlexible and adaptable with an ability to envision strategic opportunities in a highly dynamic environment.\n\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
