Garmin IT Software Engineering Team Leader in Olathe, Kansas

We’re looking for a full-time IT Software Engineering Team Leader to lead and grow a team, while directing and coordinating software development activities with Garmin's agile scrum teams. Other essential functions include: \n\nSupervisor\n\n\n\tDirectly supervise team members with daily regular interactions, including managing teams work load\n\tOversee training, mentoring and overall professional growth of associates\n\tCreate performance evaluation; review and administer with manager assistance as needed\n\n\nPlanning and Delivery execution\n\n\n\tAccountable for the delivery and quality of service of the team \n\tCoordinate and participate in generating requirements and designs for a set of web solutions in accordance with Garmin’s standards.\n\tPlan and schedule work, including the allocation of resources and planning team members’ work\n\tMaintain, improve, and extend existing software\n\tOversee the development of features, tools, and/or technologies associated with the set of applications owned by the team\n\tProvide operational leadership for day-to-day activities and strategic direction\n\tMonitor progress of the team in meeting deliverables and schedule compliance\n\tDevelop and continuously improve the way in which the team delivers\n\tAble to discern when to escalate issues to management\n\n\nTeam Health\n\n\n\tMotivate team to achieve optimum results as it relates to productivity quality and performance\n\tSet the tone for the team environment and build healthy team relationships.\n\tRecruit, develop, and retain associates to build a high performing team\n\tUse metrics to analyze and improve team health and delivery\n\tConstruct and communicate data report to upper management about the team and its improvements\n\n\nOther Responsibilities:\n\n\n\tDesign and develop web applications and web services as part of an Agile SDLC\n\tReview the code and design of developers on the team\n\tIs on-call to support the stability and quality of the applications owned by its team\n\tManage the resolution of major incidents\n\tWork with Human Resources to address employee relations issues as needed\n Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or another substantially similar field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and education. Other requirements include:\n\n\n\t5 years of relevant experience in web applications development\n\tPrevious experience and/or demonstrated ability to effectively manage technical resources\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\n\tDemonstrated ability to work well with others under challenging circumstances\n\n\nCandidates with significant experience in Java Web Applications Development and Agile methodologies are highly preferred!\n\n \n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
