Our accounting and finance team is seeking a high energy and analytical financial and decision support analyst that can work in a challenging and fast-paced aerospace and defense business. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter with strong and polished communication skills and a passion for using data to drive business decisions. This position requires an understanding of relational database functionality and report-writing expertise using Structured Query Language (SQL), including proficiency in data manipulation and extraction techniques. This position also requires qualitative and quantitative skills including statistics, use of analytical tools, knowledge of finance and cost accounting, as well as strong computer skills.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Assist in developing annual operating plans, quarterly forecasts, monthly updates, and weekly forecasts to ensure site objectives and goals are successfully achieved.

  • Report weekly metrics around bid process, closure, profitability, and overall progress to forecast and Annual Operating Plan (AOP).

  • Act as a data-based storyteller and provide key insights into what is happening in the business at both micro and macro levels.

  • Provide analytic support, including dashboard creation and management, basic descriptive and correlation analyses, visualization, and summarizations.

  • Develop KPIs and reporting based on business strategies, allowing others to draw insights at all levels of the organization.

Cost and Profitability Analysis

  • Review profitability of product portfolio on a regular basis.

  • Use knowledge and insights about the business to partner and drive change in other departments to reduce costs, increase productivity, and eliminate waste.

  • Review standard cost variances and job level performance (actual vs estimated).

  • Assist with pricing exercises as required.

  • Perform ad hoc data modeling on hypothetical what if scenarios.

  • Complete capital investment analysis as required.


  • Utilize continuous improvement techniques to ensure department delivers the highest quality work.

  • Assist the sales department in following key industry and market drivers in the defense and commercial aerospace markets.

  • Lead and assist with other projects as needed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Economics.

  • CPA and/or MBA.

  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical accounting or finance role.

  • Proficient in Excel, Access, and other Office products.

  • Public company experience.

  • Experience with ERP, Tableau and Adaptive Planning is desired.

  • Performance driven with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Experienced with DoD programs (all services and agencies) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

  • Objective thinker and problem solver with ability to execute challenging tasks to completion.

  • Experience collaborating with Program Managers, Business Development Managers, Product Lines, finance and site leadership.

  • Ability to develop broad, cooperative relationships with numerous groups and individuals, in a highly matrixed environment.
