Garmin Engineering Technician - Garmin Labs in Olathe, Kansas
We are looking for a full time Garmin Labs Technician for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this roll, you will collaborate with designers and engineers to explore, innovate and deliver top quality prototypes for new concepts and technologies. You will also maintain our electrical and mechanical work areas, configure and operate prototypes for testing, and assist designers and engineers with product R&D.\n\nEssential Funtions\n\n\n\tWork with electrical engineers to assemble, rework and troubleshoot PCBs and electrical systems.\n\tWork with product architects, designers, and engineers to construct prototypes for exciting new concepts and technologies\n\tPrepare for and coordinate testing activities\n\tMaintain prototypes and test equipment in good working order to facilitate testing\n\tConduct tests and work with project teams to verify and improve quality on Garmin hardware and software solutions\n\tServes as expert on lab equipment/tools, including maintaining lab test fixtures and apparatus and design test fixture improvements using standard or automated tools\n\tProvide guidance on equipment needs for the lab and recommendations for new and replacement equipment purchases\n\tEnsure a safe and efficient working environment in the mechanical shop and garages\n Basic Qualifications\n\n\n\tAssociate’s Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology or related field OR a minimum of 3 years relevant experience \n\tProficiency with Microsoft Office software\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\n\tMust possess strong troubleshooting skills\n\tMust demonstrate expert proficiency using lab equipment and tools including ability to efficiently create test setups and prototypes\n\tMust demonstrate ability and/or previous experience working in the field without direct supervision\n\n\nDesired Qualifications\n\n\n\tExperience or interest in prototyping skills (3D printing, laser cutting, 3D modelling, etc).\n\n\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
