Garmin EMC Engineering Technician in Olathe, Kansas

We are looking for a full-time EMC Engineering Technician at our headquarters in greater Kansas City. In this role you will be responsible for supporting environmental testing of avionics equipment with emphasis on electrical sections but this could expand to other environments also. Other essential functions include: \n\n\n\tRun testing as well as training others to run testing\n\tHelp maintain calibration of equipment\n\tTroubleshooting test set ups\n\tHelp create test procedures\n\tCreate documentation using Microsoft WORD and EXCEL to fully document the testing.\n\tCreate CAD drawings to define wire harness for testing.\n\tWork with high RF levels during HIRF testing and high voltage/current levels during lightning testing.\n\tUse common lab test equipment in testing and troubleshooting test failures, including equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers\n\tFamiliarity with the use of RF test equipment used for EMC testing and ability to troubleshoot RF test equipment.\n\tStrong verbal and written communication.\n\tGood analytical and organizational skills as well as attention to detail\n\tMaintain project files and notebooks in an organized manner.\n\tBe flexible to work different projects, including non EMC projects\n Qualified candidates possess a 2 year Electronics/Electrical Technology degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Other requirements include: \n\n\n\tExcellent academics (3.0 or higher as a general rule)\n\tCapable of applying test processes and methods to verify design and products performance\n\tUnderstands importance of thoroughly documenting work in an organized manner\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\n\tMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others\n\tDriven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems\n\tBe proactive to help others in the group during any spare bandwidth \n\n\nFamiliarity with DO160 test methods, especially Section 15 through 25 test methods and MIL-STD-461 testing along with Aircraft systems knowledge is highly preferred!\n \nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
