Garmin Director - Succession Planning & Professional Development in Olathe, Kansas

We are seeking a full-time Director - Succession Planning & Professional Development for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the strategy, design, implementation, and evaluation of succession planning, training and professional development at Garmin and will provide substantial opportunity for both vision and execution in these areas.\n\nEssential Functions \n\n\n\tPartner with executives, managers and HR business partners to deliver comprehensive individual contributor, management and executive development through education, experiences and exposure\n\tArchitect and execute integrated professional development programs and processes to drive professional growth and accountability across the organization\n\tDesign, build, and ensure delivery of focused training and development content and curriculum for Garmin leaders and associates\n\tConsult with business leaders to understand their leadership and management development needs for input and appropriate sponsorship, engagement and alignment\n\tTrack and drive measures of success/impact such as: business results, enhanced talent pipeline, retention and new behaviors clearly demonstrated\n\tChampion the succession planning process and development of high potentials and high performers identified in the Talent Review; ensure creation and follow through on training and professional developmental action plans agreed to with their managers\n\tOversee the design and creation of leadership programs utilized for readiness and development of high potentials.\n\tPartner with external vendors as appropriate and manage budget / vendor agreements\n\tRecruit, develop, lead and motivate a highly engaged and effective team\n\tBe a trusted advisor / partner to the business by building the necessary relationships to prepare and influence the education, experiences and exposures available\n\tChampion the Individual Development Plan process \n\tServe as a coach for succession candidates identified for critical roles and their managers to develop leadership / soft skills and prepare them for succession positions \n\tFacilitate leadership programs, conduct individual coaching with Senior Leader participants, and create on-boarding programs for Directors and above\n\tLeverage multiple delivery methods (OJT, ILT, virtual ILT, video, online, social learning etc.) to ensure training is easy to consume and impactful\n\tManage projects to enhance productivity and effectiveness of organizations\n\tResearch and introduce new training and development programs, processes and practices that are of value to Garmin\n Basic Qualifications \n\n\n\tBachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Development or Management, Communications, Psychology, Business, or related field AND a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience \n\tMinimum of 5 years leadership experience \n\tDemonstrated ability to think strategically, sell ideas and have significant impact and influence\n\tMust be results-oriented with strong track record of accomplishments\n\tAbility to influence, motivate and engage associates and leaders to make the changes needed to progress within the organization\n\tWell versed in assessment tools, training curriculums and coaching models and techniques with the ability to relate to technical leaders\n\tFully proficient with all phases of course and curriculum development with ability to mentor others in this skill \n\tProven experience in providing guidance, strategy, and conflict resolution with senior leadership\n\tDemonstrates expert knowledge in the use of data, evidence-based research, benchmarks, training and business metrics to make critical decisions\n\tProven ability to critically examine training initiatives and strategies and challenge assumptions \n\tDemonstrates knowledge of economic factors and economic environment impact on industry and organization operations\n\tDemonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and possess demonstrated effective presentation skills and public speaking ability \n\tMust be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult people-related problems, a multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment \n\tMust be an accomplished, collaborative leader who has experience working with all levels of associates and leadership within an organization \n\tPossess a proven track record of building progressive training and professional development strategies that directly align and enhance business outcomes, associate engagement, and organizational effectiveness\n\n\nDesired Qualifications \n\n\n\tMaster’s Degree \n\tCPLP Certification\n\tPHR or SPHR Certification\n\n\n \n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
