Garmin Desktop Design Administrator in Olathe, Kansas

Our expanding IT team is looking for a full-time Desktop Design Administrator for our Olathe, KS headquarters. In this role, you will implement, administer, and support client technologies, while working with team members to ensure enterprise systems are secure and well managed, in addition to collaborating with IT associates and key business partners.

Other key essential functions of this role will include:

  • Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin’s client computing systems

  • Performs and evaluates costs analyses and vendor comparisons from small through large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations

  • Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations

  • Provides escalated, technical support to customers by investigating and resolving systems-related matters of significance; provides support remotely or in person as required

  • Provide oversight and management of enterprise management systems, including image creation, application development, package distribution, patch management, policy enforcement and other requirements as driven by business requirements and management direction

  • Continuously develop technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging client based technologies

  • Communicate effectively regarding system operations and environment changes

  • Adhere to SOX, PCI, NIST 800.x and ISO 27001 and other regulatory requirements as dictated

  • Ensures that all security requirements are met or exceeded

  • Provides technical input to solution development plans and concept documents

  • Demonstrates understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutions

  • Communicates effectively in written and verbal form in a cross-functional setting with business partners

  • Demonstrates broad understanding of Garmin's business model, including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales and Marketing

  • Serves as a mentor and provides guidance to less experienced IT Administrators

  • Performs and plans major version upgrades

  • Design and implement effective monitoring of enterprise systems

  • Tunes systems using experience and deep knowledge of area

  • Foresees risks and communicates and mitigates those before problems arise

  • Documents technical designs and procedures for team library

  • Plans and manages technical projects involving other teams

  • Communicates technology effectively to non-technical associates and management

  • Recognizes and understands technology impacts within the business

  • Gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner

  • Contributes to technical research on new technologies, processes or procedures

    Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Additional qualifications include:

  • Outstanding academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge

  • Ability to author and implement scripting and coding to automate technical tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows, Mac and Ubuntu operating systems

  • Experience with public cloud technologies

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting

  • Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization

Desirable qualifications:

  • Managing and administering Microsoft Configuration Manager 1909 or later

  • Managing and administering Jamf Pro 10 or later

  • Managing and administering Puppet

  • Managing and administering Active Directory Group Policy

  • Scripting and automation with Windows PowerShell

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate

  • Jamf Certified Admin

  • Superior academics
