Garmin Database Administrator Intern (Summer 2022) in Olathe, Kansas

We are seeking a full-time Database Administrator Intern for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to become a Database Administrator for Garmin’s growing information access requirements. You will also learn to work with database servers as well as provide client and cross-platform connectivity.\n\nEssential Functions: \n\n\n\tLearn to analyze existing database systems and recommended improvements.\n\tLearn to configure and administer MySQL, Microsoft SQL and Oracle servers.\n\tLearn to create and maintain database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures and triggers.\n\tLearn to administer database replication and cloning between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network Tune and optimize database objects.\n\n\nOther Responsibilities:\n\n\n\tProvide support to helpdesk on escalated problems and issues.\n\tAccept and complete projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.\n Basic Qualifications: \n\n\n\tPursing a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent experience.\n\tStrong academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule).\n\tStrong verbal written communications skills. \n\tRelevant experience and/or training. \n\tOther education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects being develop. \n\n\nDesired Qualifications:\n\n\n\tExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)\n\tPrevious experience working in a team environment. \n\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
