Garmin Aviation Systems Software Engineer in Olathe, Kansas

Garmin is looking for an Aviation Systems Engineer with software skills! This individual on our Aviation Systems Engineering - Development Assurance team will partner with internal stakeholders to determine how to make their jobs easier and more efficient, and then develop software tools to make it happen. The right candidate will have experience with C# or Java, databases (SQL) and web standards such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. This role sits within our broader Aviation Systems & Programs team that helps conceive, develop and test the next-generation technologies and products that will change how our customers fly, maintain and operate their aircraft! Our Aviation Systems Engineers are the glue that ensure we develop the right products, on time, with the right requirements. We are looking for outside the box thinkers that bring creative solutions to complex avionics systems. If you're a problem solver who enjoys eliminating pain points with improved processes, automation and tools, send us your resume!\n\nFurther responsibilities of the Aviation Systems Software Engineer include:\n\n\n\tLeads solution development to solve complex problems for internal and external customers\n\tProactively improves processes, tools and procedures\n\tPossess knowledge and experience with high-level language structure in C# or Java, databases (SQL) and web standards such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM and HTTP\n\tIdentifies, documents and coordinates technical aspects for development of new interfaces / functionality or changes to existing complex system/tool functionality to support market-driven or specific customer requirements\n\tCreates system requirements, supporting rationale, technical description documentation and performs trade-off analysis\n\tEstablishes execution plans compatible with Garmin processes, including discussions with external and internal customers\n\tExemplifies Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and proactively works to improve Garmin's image and culture\n Qualified candidates for this role will possess a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or similar field from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience. \n\nPreferred qualifications include:\n\n\n\tMasters' degree in the fields noted above and 3 years relevant experience in software development or systems engineering\n\tMinimum 3.0 cumulative GPA\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills\n\tTeam-oriented, possesses a positive attitude and works well with others\n\tPassion for aviation\n\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
