Job Description

IFF is seeking a driven, enthusiastic, innovative professional to join our New Century Kansas manufacturing team in the role of Maintenance Supervisor. This position has responsibility for executing the site’s maintenance plan. The candidate must have the mindset to foster a culture of safe work, continuous improvement, and operational discipline to:

  • Control the Maintenance area to reduce equipment downtime.

  • Ensure the mechanical integrity of machines and equipment by IFF standards.

  • Ensure safety in Maintenance activities, always aiming for the goal of zero incidents.

  • Comply with all procedures and planning for the mechanical integrity element.

  • Develop and implement training and skills improvement programs for the team.

  • Ensure that the Quality System (GIS, GMP, documentation, standardization, and operational standards), MOC, and safe practices are complying.

  • Control maintenance expenses to meet the budget.

    Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the safety of maintenance employees and associated contractors completing maintenance activities.

  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed.

  • Comply with Safety and Environmental Standards, Emergency Plans, Operating Instructions, and Corporate Procedures that cover the Maintenance Area.

  • Accountable for all maintenance-related activities on all shifts.

  • Manage and develop site maintenance employees.

  • Promote and support GMP, ISO, HACCP, EH&S, and quality systems.

  • Support activities related to RSPO, Halal, and Kosher Certification are described in the Site procedures.

  • Meet Corporate and internal training needs.

  • Develop and apply procedures to identify what tasks must be done to anticipate, prevent, detect, and correct failures.

  • Drive improvement by continuing to focus on the implementation of Preventive/Predictive Maintenance programs (reliability).

  • Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and proactive support of the manufacturing process.

  • Prioritize and lead equipment inspection activities.

  • Manage Maintenance contracts.

  • Work to improve OEE-Uptime/Reliability.

  • Track all Maintenance metrics appropriately. Lead root cause analysis for key metrics in the area.

  • Ensure required activities in their focus area are carried out with appropriate documentation (MOCs, SOPs, files, etc.).

  • Ensure KPIs are understood, met, and exceeded.

  • Ensure that the Maintenance Management flow (WMP) is followed at all stages.

  • Ensure maintenance planning is completed and work orders have been completed and appropriately documented.

  • Support capital projects when required.

  • Ensure the development and review of maintenance procedures for critical PSM and regular maintenance activities.

  • Maintain maintenance costs within the Budget and look for opportunities to reduce costs.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will be an effective, results-driven, self-directed, and motivated team player who communicates in an open, honest manner. A proven track record of motivating teams, continuous improvement, strategic thinking, and having high ethical standards are also keys to success. In addition, qualified candidates should possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 5 years of maintenance / manufacturing experience OR 10 years of maintenance /manufacturing experience.

  • Prior management experience is a plus.

  • Proven safety focus.

  • Highly developed communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to perform well under competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to build teams and drive operational efficiencies.

  • Interpersonal skills for working in teams across functions.

  • Experience in Utilities, Boilers, High-Speed Rotating Equipment, Pumps, Air, and Refrigeration is preferred.

  • Experience working with PSM(Process Safety Management) and MIQA(Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance).

  • Computer and technical literacy; demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel).

  • Prior experience with SAP / Maintenance Management Software is a plus.

Reporting structure: Reports to the Operations Manager.
