Job Description

At IFF Health & Biosciences, we are truly changing the world and having fun doing interesting science. We strongly believe in supporting the next generation of scientists and engineers. We are currently seeking outstanding candidates for a 2024 summer internship in our R&D division in New Century, KS.

IFF is a leader in food ingredient sales and research providing an outstanding array of products and solutions to customers to supply their need. As an intern with the IFF Food Enzymes group, you get the opportunity to learn food enzymology and biochemistry in depth as well as test enzymes in a variety of food applications (e.g., dairy, bakery, meat/meat alternatives etc). Tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, develop, execute, and troubleshoot experiments as well as analyze results.

  • Work with a diverse group of researchers to achieve project goals.

  • Present and communicate information through multiple means including in-person communication (formal and informal), hybrid meetings, virtual meetings, etc.

  • Learning and utilizing multiple protocols, SOPs, and pieces of equipment in support of applications trials and customer projects.

  • Find, review, and apply scientific literature to projects as necessary. There will be many opportunities to network with a variety of industry professionals and learn more about our food ingredients portfolio.

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's/Masters’ degree in food science, animal science, nutrition, biochemistry, food enzymology, microbiology, bakery/cereal science, engineering, or another related field

  • Completion of at least their sophomore year of undergraduate education and will continue education in the Fall

  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary scientific setting

  • High level of initiative and the ability to work in a team environment

  • Exhibition of exceptional skills for bench-top experimental work and use of analytical instrumentation

  • Ability to document results, analyze data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings.

  • Familiarity with food biochemistry and enzymology
