Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), Position Description Number T5824900 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, National Guard. Responsibilities As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-12, you will monitor proper usage and security of ANG computer networks, and will provide guidance through planning, coordinating, and directing all network functional areas. Work involves planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats. This position is responsible for evaluating, testing and troubleshooting the various platforms and their associated operating systems and applications, both existing and proposed, that comprise the ANG enterprise. Serves as standarization/evaluation evaluator. Incumbent performs testing and evaluation of hardware, software, and personnel necessary to accomplish information technology functions essential to NOSC daily operations and training missions. A security clearance of Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) must be obtained and maintained to perform the duties of this position. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year of specialized experience at the GS11 or equivalent grade. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Specialized experience is based on the requirements of the position being filled, which include: --Comprehensive knowledge of advanced Information Technology (IT) principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to evaluate, test and troubleshoot the components of a highly evolved IT enterprise network. --Comprehensive knowledge of various network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, concentrators, boundary protection devices (Firewall), messaging platforms and print services sufficient to configure, test, evaluate and troubleshoot unique network problems. --Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and applications software sufficient to analyze requests for new and modified applications, define requirements and provide technical guidance. --Extensive knowledge of and skill in applying modeling and simulation tools and techniques sufficient to evaluate, test and baseline existing and proposed equipment and software for compliance with ANG enterprise requirements. --In-depth working knowledge of Standardization/Evaluation policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Ability to perform non-biased evaluations of assigned personnel and provide additional or remedial training when required. --Knowledge of oral and written communication techniques and skill in delivering formal and informal presentations to associates, peers, and superiors on complex and potentially controversial issues. Ability to manage assigned projects, communicate complex technical requirements to technical and non-technical personnel. --Comprehensive knowledge of advanced Information Technology (IT) principles, concepts, methods, standards, practices and terminologies sufficient to develop curriculum, train personnel and evaluate proficiency. --Knowledge of infrastructure planning, capital planning, investment analysis, knowledge sustainment management, information architecture, information security, and electronic government policies and requirements sufficient to provide NOSC management with advice and guidance on NOSC compliance efforts. Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
