\ \ Teaching Assistant Professor\ \ Department: 3670055050 Applied Human Sciences\ Job no: 516344\ Employment type: Academic / Faculty - 9 month\ Location: Manhattan, Kansas\ Worksite: Hybrid eligible (partially remote, must reside in US)\ Categories: Education / Instructional, Child Development\ Pay Grade: 001\ \ \ About This Role:\ The Department of Applied Human Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is currently seeking a 9-month Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor to join their on-campus team. This position will be responsible for teaching and advising students in the Early Childhood Education program. This non-tenure track position will report directly to the Department Head.\ \ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach early childhood education and early childhood special education courses on-campus and online
  • Provide leadership at the local, regional, and national levels
  • Participate in service activities at the unit, department, college, and university levels

\ This 9-month position at the rank of instructor or teaching assistant professor has a preferred starting date of August 2024, with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.\ \ Why Join Us:\ The Early Childhood Education program combines early childhood education and early childhood special education content knowledge and pedagogy into one blended bachelor\'s degree program. In cooperation with the College of Education, students who complete the full degree requirements are eligible to apply for a Kansas teaching license in early childhood unified (birth through kindergarten). Faculty in the program are working on a new strategic plan to meet the dynamic workforce needs. This position will be able to help contribute to this vision.\ \ The Department of Applied Human Sciences consists of seven primary academic programs (Communication Sciences and Disorders, Conflict Resolution, Couple and Family Therapy, Early Childhood Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Human Development and Family Science, and Integrative Human Sciences), as well as Cooperative Extension. The department is committed to conducting comprehensive research with a focus on well-being through multidisciplinary collaborations; providing transformational educational experiences to students; and enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through engaged and collaborative research, teaching, and service that addresses human needs and improves societal conditions.\ \ The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to six academic departments (Applied Human Sciences; Food, Nutrition, Dietetics & Health; Hospitality Management; Interior Design & Fashion Studies; Personal Financial Planning; and Kinesiology), the Center on Aging, Physician Assistant program, and a Nursing partnership with Wichita State University.   • Master\'s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or closely related field
  • Expertise in child development and early childhood special education programming and policy
  • Professional experience in an inclusive early childhood setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently
