\ \ Teaching Assistant Professor\ \ Department: 3670055040 Food Nutrition Dietetic Health\ Job no: 516551\ Employment type: Academic / Faculty - 9 month\ Location: Manhattan, Kansas\ Worksite: Hybrid eligible (partially remote, must reside in US)\ Categories: Education / Instructional, Nutrition\ Pay Grade: 001\ \ \ About This Role:\ The Department of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health (FNDH), within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is currently seeking a 9-month Teaching Assistant Professor with expertise in food science and nutrition to join their team. This position will teach and develop curricula for undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students, and participate in academic governance responsibilities. This non-tenure track position will report directly to the Department Head.\ \ Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach on-campus and online undergraduate and graduate courses related to integrating food science principles and their impact on human health and nutrition
  • Design and update course curricula to promote an active learning experience for students
  • Mentor and advise graduate students
  • Collaborate with colleagues and students on projects, fostering a culture of academic excellence
  • Stay current with trends and developments in food science related to functional foods
  • Provide service to the program, department, college, and university
  • Other duties as assigned

The complexity of the department allows faculty members who are leaders in the fields of athletic training, dietetics, human nutrition, obesity, public health, and sensory analysis to discover, disseminate, and apply knowledge to promote improved food choices and nutritional status, prevent and rehabilitate injuries, understand consumer preferences and behaviors, and enhance the well-being of people via food and physical activity.\ \ The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to six academic departments (Applied Human Sciences; Food, Nutrition, Dietetics & Health; Hospitality Management; Interior Design & Fashion Studies; Personal Financial Planning; and Kinesiology), the Center on Aging, Physician Assistant program, and a Nursing partnership with Wichita State University.
