Kansas State University Software Engineer in Manhattan, Kansas

About This Role: The Software Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, design, and/or development of software applications that are critical to the safe operation of the Biosecurity Research Institute. The employee will design, create, debug and manage changes to software applications and accompanying databases. The employee will also advise faculty on research data collection methodologies. This position, by federal regulation, requires US citizenship. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment. What You’ll Need to Succeed: Minimum Qualifications: * Requires an associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related degree program * Requires one to three years of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge and experience with RESTful services, MVC framework, SQL databases, and DevOps methodologies * Experience with contemporary design patterns, including MVVM; iterative software and engineering processes such as Agile; version control tooling and documentation; development and debugging tools * Master's degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems or closely related fields requiring a high degree of software design and programming expertise Other Requirements: * This position, by federal regulation, requires US citizenship * Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment * Export Controls Compliance Review * Federal Select Agent Program - Security Risk Assessment * Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Gov’t Security Clearance * Valid Driver's license upon employment * Ability to receive a favorable background check from KSU and pass Select Agent Background Check upon employment How to Apply: Please submit the following documents: 1.
