Corteva Agriscience is currently seeking a Research Associate to join the team at the Wamego Kansas station. As a Research Associate your responsibilities will focus on field support of corn, soybeans, sorghum, and wheat- mapping, seed preparation, field preparation, planting, harvest. There will also be opportunities to focus on next generation phenotyping methodologies.
Responsibilities - What You'll Do:
Opportunities to focus on next generation phenotyping and methodologies. Data validation in precision phenotyping.
Assist with file manipulation and summarizing the results of the experiments.
Assist with breeding program and research seed production activities, including seed preparation for planting, pollinating, purification, and combine/hand harvest, these are critical times for the success of the research program, so weekend work and overtime will be required at these times.
Effectively communicate with the Wamego, KS research center staff, and other researchers to ensure proper data collection procedures are followed, timelines are met, and quality data is entered for advancement decisions.
Organize and supervise part-time and temporary employees ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
Communicate procedures and expectations to data collection personnel.
Monitor on- and off-site research yield trials and research seed production locations throughout the growing season and communicate field conditions to research center managers, this ensures fields are weed-free, and data collection and harvest activities occur in a timely fashion resulting in quality data.
Qualifications
Qualifications - What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's or master's degree with 1-4 years of experience.
Computer skills and the use of Corteva proprietary software for completing these tasks will be a significant component, the handling of large volumes of data will be required.
Must be capable of working in varying ergonomic and environmental conditions for extended periods of time.
Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.
