This individual will be a safety-minded and client-focused operational lead of Special Inspection and construction materials testing/consulting services for a wide variety of projects and clients. This may include performing and/or leading field investigations, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes. Research and resolve design and construction problems. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to effectively communicate simple to complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and/or industrial sectors.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

  • Provide outstanding client experience through great customer service, responsiveness, and excellent communication.

  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.

  • Career level, fully competent engineering professional with responsibility for managing detailed phases of projects with moderate size and complexity.

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.

  • Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.

  • Work closely with senior-level project managers to gain additional project management experience for more complex and larger projects.

  • Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations, adaptations and modifications.

  • Prepare proposals and reports for small and large projects of varying complexity.

  • Perform quality control review of proposals written by others.

  • Interact directly with client and external project team on developing scope of services, communicating project progress and findings and recommendations.

  • Identify and track future project opportunities

  • Develop and maintain client relationships on active projects

  • Supervise and/or train field services and lower level staff.

  • Work under the supervision of an Authorized Project Reviewer

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practices by the Firm including Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or similar and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years’ related experience.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG) or similar professional registration/certification relevant to the type of services and projects being managed
