Ice College of Engineering at Kansas State University (K-State) is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Dean for Academic and Administrative Affairs. The position provides leadership, management and oversight related to undergraduate degree programs, accreditation, curriculum, facilities, strategic and budgetary planning, and administrative duties within the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering and with external entities. The position reports to the dean and is a regular administrative (12-month) appointment. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.\ \ The successful candidate may be expected to:

  • Provide guidance and vision to align the college\'s academic programs with the Next-Gen K-State strategic plan.
  • Serve as the point person for the undergraduate mission in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering and represent the college internally and externally.
  • Supervise recruitment, student services and retention/diversity/inclusion offices.
  • Support and lead the undergraduate degree programs including but not limited to enrollment management, student services, curriculum development, student organizations, student placement, and scholarship planning, review, and awarding processes.
  • Coordinate and be the lead person for undergraduate degree program accreditation.
  • Provide updates and reports to agencies and organizations such as the Kansas Board of Regents and philanthropic supporters.
  • Oversee administrative operations related to academic programs, including but not limited to facilities, computing services, classrooms and laboratories.
  • Manage budgetary matters related to program execution, student organizations and strategic investments.
  • Develop and administer academic policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate college awards and recognition.
  • Represent the college and dean as appropriate.
  • Conduct or direct special projects as assigned.

Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.\ \ What You\'ll Need to Succeed:\ Candidates for this position are expected to have a doctorate in engineering or computer science or closely related field and be able to be a tenured faculty member in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering.\ \ Preferred candidates would hold the rank of professor; candidates at the rank of associate professor may be considered. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of excellence in scholarly activity, evidence of administrative ability, and strong communication and leadership skills. Previous administrative experience is preferred.
