Bayer Construction Asphalt and/or Concrete Construction Laborer in Manhattan, Kansas

Bayer Construction Company Inc. is seeking motivated individuals to perform tasks for the placement of hot mix asphalt pavement. Tasks include physical labor, operating various hand & power tools, and operating various construction equipment. May clean and prepare surfaces for paving, perform demolition of existing pavement, place hot mix asphalt, direct traffic safely through a jobsite, clean jobsites of construction debris, and perform cleaning & maintenance of construction equipment. All of the work is performed outdoors and basic personal protective equipment such as hard hats, work boots, long pants, shirts, safety vests and eye protection is required.
Asphalt Hand & Power Tools: Shovels, asphalt rakes, pavement saws, and compactor plates.
Asphalt Equipment: Asphalt paver, distributor, milling machine, steel drum roller, and skid steer.

Tasks include physical labor, operating various hand & power tools, and operating various construction equipment. May dig trenches, perform demolition of existing concrete, set & strip concrete forms, place & tie rebar, place ready-mix concrete, trowel or saw j chits in new concrete, direct traffic safely through a jobsite, clean jobsites of construction debris, and perform cleaning & maintenance of construction equipment. All of the work is performed outdoors and basic personal protective equipment such as hard hats, work boots, long pants, shirts, safety vests and eye protection is required.
Concrete Hand & Power Tools: Shovels, concrete rakes, concrete vibrator, trowels, pavement saws and compactor plates.
Concrete Equipment: Vibrating screed and skid steer.
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Desire to work required hours and work 5-6 days a week
- Be highly reliable, motivated, and focused on details
- Able to work as a member of a team with co-workers and foreman
- Willingness and ability to learn and follow directions
- Able to pass a drug test and have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting, carrying, and walking
- Can understand and follow company and Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety rules
