The engineering manager plans, organizes and directs engineering to meet company objectives and customer requirements for product design, quoting and production implementation. Additional responsibilities include overseeing or managing project planning, tooling/equipment acquisitions, procedure documents and continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Work directly with sales personnel and Director of Operations to review and quote new products.
- Performs or delegates tasks associated with review and quoting of new products or revisions to existing product. This includes determining product cost, lead times, routing, finishing and packaging. Working both internally and with external suppliers to determine tooling requirements and cost.
- Captures information associated with quote requests in a cost worksheet. Directs management of files associated with quote requests and transfer of information to production for new product release. This includes initial setup of new parts in the ERP system and OEE software.
- Selects, develops and manages engineering team whos responsibilities include product design, evaluations of manufacturability, tool design, CNC programming and engineering file management.
- Manages and supports tooling department. Assists operations personnel with identifying opportunities for improvement and implementation of improvement initiatives associated with equipment and processes.
- Coordinates project planning for new product release with operations team.
- Assists operations group and facilities management with implementation of PM program for facility assets.
- Determines, develops and implements policies, procedures and programs related to all engineering functions.
- Directs appropriate support for manufacturing and quality functions within the organization.
- Oversees NSF certification of products.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports
- Directly or through subordinate managers is responsible for engineering and programming employees. With appropriate experience, manages the tooling department. Carries out those responsibilities in accordance with the organization\'s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring and training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
