Validation Scientist

Kelly Science and Clinical is currently recruiting for several qualified, full-time, fully-benefited, Direct Hire, Scientists –You will be certifying negative results for one of our clients. These positions are in in Lenexa, KS.

Pay: $27– $32/hr. and based on experience; 10% shift differential

Relocation Assistance Available

Hours: 12PM – 830PM or 5PM-130AM, Tues – Sat; OT required, up to a few hours per day

Summary of the Position:

As a Negative Certifying Scientist, you will use on-the-job training to review and release negative drug testing results. You will be required to work independently of immediate supervision and assume the initiative for prompt and accurate certification with appropriate documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and forensic and scientific defensibility of drug testing results.

Responsibilities:

Certifying negative and rejected drug testing results according to the Laboratory’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual.

Ensure that all test results reported by the laboratory are accurate and legally defensible.

Describe the standard drug testing procedures from point of collection to negative certification in a court of law.

Interact on a limited basis with clients, medical review officers, call center representatives and sales staff in a professional manner to address questions pertaining to the drug testing process.

Interact with laboratory inspectors to demonstrate a detailed working knowledge of the lab SOPS, QC practices, analytical procedures, test theory, reporting procedures, corrective actions and applicable regulations pertaining to drug screening.

Maintain a working knowledge of the accessioning procedures and protocols to ensure proper specimen and chain of custody handling.

Have a thorough understanding of all laboratories:

Quality control practices and procedures.

Data review processes

Procedures for interpretation of test results

Protocols for reporting results

Maintain a thorough understanding of all federal, state, and other regulatory requirements as they pertain to applicable aspects of forensic drug testing.

Take proper remedial action in response to test systems being out of control limits or detecting aberrant test or quality control results.

Comply with all safety and regulatory requirements as defined and applicable.

Other duties as assigned by the Certifying Scientist Supervisor and Responsible Person

Qualifications/Education/Skills:

Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, or related field; other bachelor’s degrees considered pending applicable coursework is satisfied

Master of Science degree or Medical Technology degree preferred

One year of laboratory experience required; two years preferred; forensic toxicology experience desired

Training and experience in reviewing and reporting test results, maintenance of chain of custody, and understanding proper remedial action in response to problems that may arise is preferred.

Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
