Description We are in search of a Purchasing Agent to join our team in Lenexa, Kansas. This role is integral to our procurement and purchasing operations, as you will be tasked with managing supplier relationships, negotiating prices, and ensuring smooth procurement processes. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity and is a crucial part of our supply chain management and operations functions.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee a group of suppliers from purchase order placement to order delivery, approve payments, and negotiate prices.

• Manage supplier relationships to schedule or expedite deliveries and resolve issues such as shortages or late deliveries.

• Prepare purchase orders and negotiate prices to ensure smooth procurement processes.

• Carry out procurement processes, standards, and operational plans, including Request for Proposals (RFPs), negotiation preparations, and cost analysis.

• Respond to inquiries on order status changes or cancellations, ensuring customer satisfaction.

• Analyze trends, supplier risks, and changes in demand using procurement tools.

• Review critical shortages with the Planner and stakeholders, working with suppliers to improve deliveries and close supply gaps.

• Analyze root causes and lead resolution efforts to prevent overdue deliveries.

• Ensure products are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and are procured at the right cost.

• Monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

• Participate in other projects as assigned and directed by Leadership. Requirements • Demonstrable proficiency in communication and negotiation skills for liaising with suppliers and stakeholders.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office functions.

• Proven experience in operations and payment processing.

• Familiarity with software such as 'About Time' and 'Workstation Support'.

• Must have knowledge of pricing strategies and cost analysis in procurement.

• Leadership skills to guide and manage a team when needed.

• Knowledge of procurement regulations and ability to ensure compliance.

• A background in engineering is preferred but not mandatory.

• Willingness to travel as part of the job duties.

• Must prioritize customer satisfaction in all dealings.

• Experience in managing deliveries and working with suppliers.

• Ability to read and understand technical specifications.

• Knowledge of supply chain management and supply chain logistics.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

• Must have a strong understanding of procurement strategies and processes.
