Job Description

The Landis+Gyr Sr. Manager, IT Change Management is primarily accountable for the overall quality, improvement, execution and enforcement of the North America IT Change Control process and direct management of the change control personnel. He/she is the main coordinator within this process and is the focal point regarding changes for the IT organization. The Sr. Manager, IT Change Management chairs the change advisory board to review, prioritize and accept/reject requests for change (RFC’s) submitted through the designated change control software. This position assumes accountability for control of changes released into the production system.

  • Accountable for the overall quality, improvement, execution and enforcement of the Change Management process.

  • Responsible for continual review and improvement of the change management procedure and work instructions.

  • Chairs all forms of the production Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings .

  • Obtains authorization for submitted change requests from the Change Authority.

  • Responsible for planning end leading Quarterly Maintenance change events.

  • Review of all RFC’s (Requests for Change) to ensure that all Change Management requirements and standards are enforced and properly categorized according to established guidelines.

  • Verifies the completeness and timeliness of changes entered into the change management system; follows up non-compliant changes made outside the change management process.

  • Evaluates completed changes to ensure the change management process was followed and recommend improvements.

  • Reduce the number of emergency changes due to a lack of planning.

  • Creates a Forward Schedule of change and verifies that appropriate communication is sent to all customers (internal and external).

  • Responsible for ensuring CMDB resource is kept up to date as changes occur.

  • Responsible for administering the change control and configuration management software (currently Change Gear and Service Now).

  • Assists with scheduling of changes and ensuring proper resources assigned to execute scheduled changes.

  • Responsible for maintaining pre-authorized and standard change lists.

  • Oversees emergency change management review, approval and scheduling.

  • Manages up to 3 direct reports, including the Change Coordinator and Change Facilitator.

  • Assists auditors with auditing the activities of the Change Management function for compliance with established procedures and IT control framework; ensures corrective actions are and remediation actions are implemented.

  • Ensures Quality of process and tools; defines and monitors Key Performance Indicators and drives improvements in process, methods and outcomes.

  • Ensures standardized methods and techniques are used for the preparation, building, testing and implementation of changes to meet process requirements and prevent change-related incidents.

  • Develops and maintains IT Change Management principles, standards, plans and procedures and their implementation within the agreed upon scope; promotes and communicates the process to all parties involved including external suppliers

  • Provides guidance, answers questions and coaches participants in the correct use of the process; identifies training requirements, arranges and provides training for staff, contractors and volunteers.

  • Schedules and chairs Change Board meeting and co-ordinates urgent changes among IT solution delivery and support teams; reviews changes prior to moving them forward for Change Board review.

  • Function as the central and accepted point of contact and point of escalation for changes and change management process participants.

  • Ensures that changes to IT Change Management processes, standards, methods and tools are properly approved and communicated to staff before being implemented publicizes and oversees implementation of new scope and improvements.

  • Evaluates existing Change Management systems and transitions their design, implementation and management into a common IT Service Management system established as the central and accepted system for changes.

  • Intermediate to advanced skills with IT Services Management (ITSM) tools and methods.

  • 5-8 years technical experience - preferably in an IT Change Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) role.

  • Solid understanding of ITIL framework and demonstrated proficiency in the ITIL v3 processes.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university, with 5 or more years of experience with IT in a large, complex enterprise environment, or its equivalent, required.

  • 5-8 years technical experience - preferably in an IT Change Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) role.

  • Solid understanding of ITIL framework and demonstrated proficiency in the ITIL v3 processes.

  • ITIL v3 Intermediate certification. ITIL V3 Expert or Master certifications a plus.
