Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the DOT / Licensing Clerk will be to support our equipment group with vehicle licensing and DOT assessment coordination. Additionally, the DOT / Licensing Clerk will provide support for all administrative needs pertaining to the Equipment Services team.

Kiewit Equipment Services (KES) helps to ensure the profitability of Kiewit projects through the improved equipment utilization and mechanical reliability by delivering world-class equipment and service.


This position is based at our District Home Office in Lenexa, KS. This is a shared service environment in a professional office setting.


  • Administer online procurement system, including workflow requirements and master data.

  • Ensure purchase orders, agreements, invoices and etc are following company standards.

  • Interface with various internal and external clients.

  • Vehicle licensing and DOT assessment coordination.

  • Maintain various reporting metrics and templates.

  • Review requisitions for completeness and accuracy.

  • Apply for volume rebates and discounts according to master purchasing agreements.

  • Manage department SharePoint site.

  • Provide administrative support to four purchasing agents and other business personnel.

  • Additional assignments as directed by leadership.

  • Perform basic clerical duties such as filing, copying, and data entry.

  • Distribution of department mail


  • At least 3 years’ experience in a professional setting; construction industry or equipment experience preferred

  • DOT and/or Licensing experience required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Power BI

  • Experience and ability to navigate and adapt to various internal and external online platforms to perform job duties

  • Experience working with modern technologies such as SAP, SharePoint, video conferencing, etc.

  • Deadline-driven with a sense of urgency

  • Strong professional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to take direction and provide timely feedback on progress of tasks

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization and active listening skills

  • Strong emotional intelligence

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, problem solve and perform routine analysis on financials
