Thermo Fisher Scientific Lead Production Operator in Lenexa, Kansas

The Lenexa, Kansas Thermo Fisher location is part of the Microbiology Division. As one of the Lenexa team members, you will help our customers find solutions and workflows for food, clinical and pharmaceutical environments.
Position Summary: Coordinate and control production while meeting goals. Educate, train, and mentor employees while maintaining Thermo Fisher values.
What will you do?
Train, educate, and guide employees on assigned duties while encouraging safety improvements. Retrain as needed.
Coordinate and lead production in assigned area with a constant goal of growing efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Meet production goals by efficiently delegating tasks and providing job direction.
Ensure production lines are staffed with accurately trained associates and materials.
Assist production associates with quality assurance questions and concerns. Get in touch with other groups as needed.
Build and maintain a safe work environment by engaging the associates in reporting potential safety hazards, support of the EH&S guidelines and continual emphasis on safe work habits and working conditions.
Ensure the performance of assigned lines is visible through pacing boards and identify and troubleshoot issues.
Train, coach, and assist with 5S upkeep.
Develop a Gemba walk and perform regularly to ensure shop floor control.
Use results to develop training and mentor opportunities for individuals/team.
Apply Leader Standard Work implement Lean Management and maintain daily accountability.
Use visual management to analyze production performance indicators, establish triggers, and ensure sustainable corrective actions are in place to improve quality, reduce waste and improve efficiencies.
Continually improve production systems and coordinate activities to correct issues that cannot be immediately resolved.
Provide input for performance evaluations.
Support supervisor in daily activities when required.
Coordinate with supervisor of personnel issues as they arise.
Synchronize efforts to help other departments.
Operate and adjust machinery.
Work with maintenance when equipment is not operating to standard.
Other duties as assigned.
How will you get here?
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
Preferred- PIT experience in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
Disclosure – You will be working with biological materials that are heated and scent is generated throughout department.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Must be 18 years old or older.
Flexibility and collaborating with a team of colleagues are needed.
Read, write, and speak fluently in English and Math.
Ability to work with little or no supervision and handle multiple tasks at one time.
Computer Experience; SAP experience preferred.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and be detail oriented.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. as well as push/pull up to 600 lbs. wheeled carts.
Coordinate with key team members to achieve company goals.
Previous experience in inventory control, preferred.
