Full Job Description:
This position requires the execution of LiDAR processing tools to manipulate LiDAR data and generate derived products. LiDAR Technician will have a strong understanding of file system architecture and machine resource allocation, the ability to review LiDAR classification accuracy, and perform quality control checks of LiDAR-derived products. (Digital Elevation Models, Contours, breaklines, etc.) and communication of processing progress and updates on any issues to be overcome.
Objectives:
- Manage a large volume of inbound and outbound calls, emails, and chats with knowledge and efficiency
- Identify and address customer needs, with a goal of total satisfaction
- Provide expert answers to questions about products, pricing, and availability while presenting the value of our product portfolio to customers
- Meet customer-service department sales targets, generating leads when opportunities arise
- Follow company guidelines and procedures for communications with minimal supervision
- Recommend improvements to company processes for efficiency
Responsibilities:
- Acts as an office specialist for processing/creating/analyzing geospatial data for aerial and terrestrial LiDAR and photogrammetry projects.
- Occasional role as field technician for supplementing crew staff on GNSS, drones, and other data collection equipment for topographic survey and photogrammetry projects.
- Working with point clouds in various formats for digitizing and creating Geomatics datasets for survey and design projects
- Utilize software packages such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson CAD, Leica Cyclone-3DR, MicroStation, TopoDOT
- Performing CAD mapping tasks using software packages above to combine Remote Sensing and conventional survey datasets
- Creating deliverables for internal and external survey projects
- Communicate with Geomatics PM/PLS on processes and procedures for creating datasets
- Take direction from the Group Director as well as Geomatics Project Managers for daily tasking, project planning, deliverable generation
- Able to perform daily tasks independently as well as part of a team
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years progressive experience in CAD
- 3-5 years progressive experience with spreadsheets or GIS tools
- 3-5 years experience with ortho rectification
- 3-5 years progressive experience with LiDAR classification
- 3-5 years experience with compilation from LiDAR or stereo imagery
- Excellent computer and technical skills, including Auto CAD and/or MicroStation and MS Office Suite
- Proficient in technical math, including Geometry and Trigonometry
- Strong listening, writing and verbal communication skills
- Proven work history, strong work ethic and team-player attitude
