So what will you be doing all day?

You would join us in one of our national offices, or working from home, as a Fire Protection Engineer/Code Consultant working on things like?

  • Working directly with clients to bring their dreams to life

  • Developing proposals for prospective projects

  • Technical design and quality control on assigned projects

  • Assisting in the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications) for new buildings, renovations, and additions to existing facilities

  • Managing project design teams to maintain design schedule, project budgets, and client expectations

  • Providing coordination of project designs with other disciplines

  • Maintaining positive client relationships

  • Traveling for detailed site investigations and client meetings

  • Designing automatic sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems

  • Performing calculations and designing special suppression systems

  • Sharing technical information with teammates

  • Learning and expanding technical and soft skill sets

  • Evaluating and recommending fire protection products, systems, and equipment

  • Coordinating fire protection design criteria and project requirements with code officials

  • Checking shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications

  • Responding to code comments and resolving permit issues with code officials

  • Evolving technical details, specifications, and application guidelines

  • Resolving construction conflicts and answering questions from contractors

  • Surveying and observing fire protection system installations on-site and via video

  • Completing project "punch-list" and assisting in resolving owner and contractor conflicts

  • Assisting other-discipline teammates to successfully integrate multiple disciplines into assigned projects

We'd love for you to apply for this position if you possess?

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET EAC or TAC Accredited Program. A technical degree or certification and strong relevant experience may commensurate for Bachelor?s degree

  • Be registered as a professional engineer (P.E.) having passed the fire protection engineering written examination administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)

  • Have a minimum 5 years of related Fire Protection experience

  • Relevant professional experience in, and a passion for, federal, healthcare, sports, and/or mission-critical projects

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP applications on similar projects is required. Knowledge of HydraCalc or Autosprink RVT preferred

  • Possess successful verbal and written communication skills

  • Have knowledge of building and fire codes, including IFC, NFPA, and UFC

  • Have the ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design
