As a Cloud Data Architect at Kiewit, you’ll play a pivotal role in the design, development and implementation of Kiewit Technology Groups’ Kiewit Data Platform (KDP) initiative. The goal of the KDP is to provide an enterprise-wide data infrastructure foundation that will supply the business with high quality, certified data sets that will support and enable the future of the business. Working with a cross-functional team of architects, you’ll help craft a vision for the KDP as a whole as well as it’s specific components such as data lake, cloud data warehouse, streaming and ingestion systems, etc. This is a unique opportunity to help lead a transformation from a traditional on-prem infrastructure to a cloud-based enterprise data platform that will serve as the foundation for the next 5-10 years of digital transformation efforts at Kiewit.

Kiewit Technology Group’s (KTG) mission is to deliver project schedule and cost certainty by employing technology designed by and for the construction industry. This position will be based out of Omaha, NE, or Lenexa, KS. These are shared service centers in a professional office setting.
Drive analysis, design, development and implementation of the Kiewit Data Platform and its key components including data warehouses, data lakes, ingestion, and movement
Help establish, evangelize, and maintain the vision and roadmap for the Kiewit Data Platform
Develop the transition plans and roadmaps to migrate from our legacy infrastructure and systems to the new KDP architecture
Work with the data engineering team, data scientists, data analysts, and business partners to understand various data needs and implement scalable platform-wide solutions leveraging the KDP
Provide forward-thinking technology leadership in developing innovative solutions with a strong emphasis on continual improvement in automating our infrastructure and software release processes
Stay current with cloud and data technology and trends and optimize our cloud infrastructure for Kiewit’s evolving needs.
Mentor junior technology team members in best practices, technical options, and expediting technical solutions
Document and communicate complex concepts effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders
7+ years of experience in designing/architecting and maintaining enterprise data systems
Strong experience with data warehouses, enterprise data movement technologies such as Informatica, ETL/ELT tools, and analytics platforms such as Power BI
Significant experience designing, developing, implementing and/or operating cloud infrastructure environments in one of the three major cloud providers: Azure, AWS or GCP
Experience with Teradata and BTEQ scripting is preferred
Extensive experience working with data using SQL, particularly in Microsoft databases and environments
Previous experience working with modern cloud data technologies such as Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Databricks, etc. is a big plus
Knowledge of and experience with Machine Learning platforms, tools, and libraries is preferred
Previous experience aligning technology roadmaps with strategic business goals and initiatives
Proven ability to develop great relationships with co-workers, credibility with leadership, and rapport for getting things done with stakeholders
Experience with multiple relational and NO SQL databases
Ability to set technical direction for a project or application
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
