City of Lenexa Building Services Worker I (Custodian) - EVENINGS Full-Time in Lenexa, Kansas

The City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation department is currently accepting applications for Full-Time Building Service Workers. The ideal candidate:


+ is a self-starter


+ can work independently


+ is passionate about serving the public and delivering the highest level of professional custodial services.


Hours: M-F; evening shifts 4pm - 12:30am, and occasional weekends.


This position also receives the following:


+ Cell phone allowance - $35 per pay period - $910.00 annually or a City-issued iPhone.


+ Boot allowance - $175.00 annually.


+ City-issued apparel (work shirts & pants).


Position Summary


This position performs custodial duties involving cleaning and routine maintenance at multiple City facilities and adjacent grounds, operating equipment, and setting up and cleaning up for meetings and events.


Key Responsibilities


+ Assists participants with special events, rentals, and programs at a variety of City facilities and parks.


+ Sets up meetings, recreational activities, birthday parties, and City events scheduled at several City buildings.


+ Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors; dusts and cleans offices, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other work areas; strips, waxes, and polishes floors; shampoos carpets.


+ Operates City vehicles to transport equipment and supplies to various facilities and events around the City.


+ Cleans sidewalks and removes snow and ice; removes debris and other litter from building grounds.


+ Operates tools and electrically powered machines (i.e. propane/ electric buffers, Grout Hog, Kaivac and auto scrubbers (walk-behind & ride on), etc.).


+ Must be available to be on call as needed with overtime, weekend, and holidays work required.


Additional Examples of Work Performed


+ Occasionally requires the moving or lifting of heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment.


Qualifications


+ Valid Class C driver’s license.


+ First Aid & CPR certifications (or ability to obtain within one year).


+ One year of directly related cleaning experience preferable.


+ High School diploma or GED; preferred but not required.


Rate of pay to $15.42 to $18.85 per hour DOQ and directly related experience. The City of Lenexa offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
