job summary:
is looking for a dynamic team member with strong project management and communication skills to join us as a Project Manager. As a critical member of our support staff, the Project Manager will be responsible for facilitating and maintaining critical Project Governance processes within the Innovative Learning & Assessment Solutions team (ILAS), organizing and controlling project elements from initiation through delivery. This role will be responsible for organizing, executing, and tracking projects on Ascend's roadmap, directly supporting organizational goals and objectives. This position will also be responsible for project governance reporting, capacity planning, and budget management.
Responsibilities:
Creating and maintaining Smartsheet pages, building detailed project plans in conjunction with teams across to capture tasks, dates, and resources assigned to project execution
Manage detailed capacity planning for Media & Interactive Production team as project plans change. Capture workflow steps and verify task completion, including handoffs between teams.
Collaborate with Content Learning Managers to deliver on project deliverables/scope, capturing and documenting launch criteria and acceptance.
Identify, manage, and mitigate Program/Project risks that may impact cost, timeline, resources, and scope.
Collaborate with colleagues across wide-reaching organizations to perform appropriate gap analysis and risk management of program.
Maintain administration of dashboards that support the Project Governance team to report on key metrics regarding project health.
Communicate frequently with key cross functional stakeholders and business owners, including preparation and facilitation of project stakeholder meetings and the creation of KPI reports.
Forecast project spend monthly and maintain budget for project lifecycle.
Collaborate and organize multiple Program teams using different project management methodologies, including both Waterfall and Agile (SAFe).
Facilitate regular project status meetings to discuss and coordinate deliverables with core project team.
Serve as the primary contact and escalation point for project issues
Contribute to program process management standards, leveraging project expertise to provide constructive input in support of program standards.
Work independently with minimal direction.
Build trust and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization, including staff, business stakeholders, and senior executives.

Ability to lead teams and gain trust.

Planning: In partnership with resource managers, accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; sets objectives and goals; breaks down work into the tactical steps; develops schedules and task/people assignments; anticipates and adjusts for problems and roadblocks; measures performance against goals; evaluates results; accurate project status reporting; issue escalation to quickly mitigate and remove roadblocks. Ability to be detailed oriented with a broad-minded focus on delivering projects on-time.
Decision Quality: Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, common sense, experience and judgment; most of solutions and suggestions turn out to be correct and accurate when judged over time; sought out by others for advice and solutions.
Presentation Skills: Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings, one-on-one, small and larger groups with peers and leadership; transparently and professional; presents data-based facts that support the end goals of projects, both the easy and controversial topics; commands attention and can manage group discussion during the presentation; adjusts tactics midstream when something isn't working
Required Skills:
Familiarity with both Waterfall and Agile (SAFe) project management methodologies
Proficient in Smartsheets and Microsoft Office Suite
Five-plus years related experience, including at least three years of project management experience with successful implementation of cross-functional programs
PMP certification preferred
Bachelor's degree required
