This job was posted by https://www.kansasworks.com : For more information, please see: https://www.kansasworks.com/ada/r/jobs/11386952 PERCENTAGE OF TIME & ACCOUNTABILITIES75% Delivers Meals on Wheels and ensures proper delivery of meals to home bound seniors.20% Opens and prepares meal site for delivery in the southern portion of Leavenworth County.5% All other duties as assigned.SCOPEOpens and prepares nutrition site for meal delivery, delivers meals to home bound seniors and monitors the inventory of Meals-on-Wheels supplies in southern Leavenworth County.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Possess a valid Kansas Driver's License with an excellent driving record.Possess a working knowledge of city and county roads.Ability to assess the needs of the nutrition sites in the southern portion of the county.Ability to work with staff to coordinate the smooth operation of the nutrition program.Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.Ability to pass a drug screening and KBI check.Good knowledge of traffic and safety rules.Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.Ability to work well with seniors.Ability to write legibly and communicate clearly.Ability to use a two-way radio.Ability to work well with people and successfully and meet the public.Ability to complete a maintenance log.HUMAN RELATIONSEffectively communicates with co-workers.Communicates with supervisor to ensure smooth operation of nutrition program.Effectively communicates with senior citizensILLUSTRATIVE TASKSOpens and prepares meal site for delivery in the southern portion of Leavenworth County.Monitors inventory of supplies with Caterer Liaison for the southern dining centers.Inspects weekly the backup Meals-on-Wheels vehicle located at the Tonganoxie Annex.Monitors the safety needs and cleanliness of the nutrition site.Acts as liaison with the Tonganoxie and Basehor Nutrition Sites.Delivers meals to the homebound in the southern portion of Leavenworth County.Notifies the Council on Aging office by radio in the event a homebound client is not home for their meal so that the established procedure can be enacted.Maintains the assigned vehicle daily in accordance with the Council on Aging's procedures, i.e. cleaning vehicle, filling gas tank, check oil, etc.Records mileage and gas consumption.Uses appropriate radio procedures.Works effectively with senior citizens.Serves the public in a friendly manner.Assists with annual Summer Benefit for the Meals on Wheels program (evening event). ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDSWork is performed primarily outdoors transporting meals with exposure to all weather conditions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School Degree or General Equivalency Degree. Valid Driver's License.Ability to be certified in First Aid and CPR.Ability to successfully interact with seniors.Pass a KBI check and drug/alcohol screening. ADA/PHYSICAL DEMANDSVision - Adequate vision to be able to drive and read nutrition route sheets and transportation schedule.Hearing - Adequate for normal conversation with co-workers, supervisor and the general public.Speech - Must be able to speak and understand English language clearly to provide detailed information by telephone and in person.Standing - 10% of the time.Walking - 40% of the time when delivering meals from vehicle to door.Sitting - 50% of the time when driving vehicle and office work.Lifting/Carrying - 25 poundsPushing/Pulling - Adequate for normal day to day job tasks.Climbing/Balancing - Required when negotiating stairs, retrieving supplies, walking. Pushing/Pulling - Adequate for normal day to day job tasks.Stooping/Kneeling - Required on most tasks.Reaching/Handling - Required on most tasks.
