Working on the GDIT Learning & Performance Development Team, you will design and develop leadership and professional development programs for the enterprise that are highly relevant, business-minded, and leader-championed to enable the immediate application of new skills on-the-job and enable performance results.

You’ll support the build of complex, multi-faceted blended-learning programs that enhance the leadership and professional development skills critical to our workforce. You will also seek design excellence, with emphasis on continuous improvement in L&D for yourself, the design team and broader L&D function.

Responsibilities/Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Balance the workload of multiple L&D Projects per the agreed upon timelines established by the Senior Project Manager. This includes providing high quality products and proactively following through on all project tasks and millstones for timely delivery.

  • Conduct discovery activities to determine the desired performance outcomes and existing performance gaps based on enterprise needs analyses and strategic prioritization.

  • Conduct detailed learning needs analyses to determine the skills related to the desired performance outcomes, cascading learning objectives that will enable those outcomes, and measurement strategies for demonstrating the achievement of those outcomes.

  • Solicit insights from subject-matter experts by asking targeted and meaningful questions to fully explore and understand the desired performance, synthesize the information collected, and appropriately incorporate SME feedback into the learning design.

  • Determine the most effective learning approaches, techniques, and technologies to efficiently achieve the learning objectives and desired performance outcomes.

  • Communicate to business stakeholders the clear connections between program content and the desired performance outcomes in achieving business results to gain sign-off.

  • Design program events, activities, and exercises (including sequencing and timing), while also ensuring that learning is relevant, business-minded and engaging for participants.

  • Develop all program assets and materials including e-learning courseware, virtual workshop events, facilitation guides, learner workbooks, job aids, etc. Collaborate with the L&D Operations Team to package, deliver and manage programs through the Learning Management System (as appropriate).

  • Collaborate with the L&D Facilitation Team to hand-off ILT/VILT programs (as appropriate). This includes high quality facilitation outlines and facilitator preparation support.

  • Produce and archive design documents that appropriately detail the design process and justification for the program. Design documents should include the following: Project Sponsors, Business Outcomes/Impact, Measures of Success, Target Audience, Performance Outcomes, Solution Concept, Measurement Strategy, Learning Objectives, Solution Concept, Learning Activities, and Sequencing and Timing of Learning Activities.

  • Exhibit L&D Excellence and seek continues professional development.

  • Seek to achieve our L&D Mission and adhere to our L&D Guiding Principles.

  • Complete other L&D duties as assigned.

Qualifications to be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree AND 8+ years of related work experience in Instructional Design and/or Learning & Development

  • Track record for delivering measurable performance outcomes that enable skill development

  • Demonstrated Instructional Design/Development Skills (samples/demo will be required)

  • Demonstrated Learning Delivery and Facilitation Skills (samples/demo may be required)

  • Demonstrated ability to write performance outcomes, learning objectives and evaluation measures

  • Experience with skill development, leadership development and technical learning programs

  • Experience with multi model/method design/development (e.g., e-learning, virtual and in-person)

  • Working knowledge of learning and performance development best practices

  • Current experience interacting with senior leaders in a large, fast-paced, highly complex enterprise

  • Must be willing to deliver a 15–20-minute presentation to Sr. Leadership as part of the final interview process

It’s desirable if you also have:

  • Experience with performance consulting

  • Experience with diversity and inclusion programs

  • Experience with supervising/managing others

  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools
