Job Description:

60% Study Abroad and International Outreach Program Coordinator – Support Study Abroad and International Outreach Program goals by developing, implementing, and managing program initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Create and propose new action plans to program director to further support strategic goals. Review and modify existing plans to ensure high-quality, value-added student experience.

  • Actively market study abroad programs across the School, including classroom visits, informational meetings, presentations to targeted student clubs or associations, participation in the annual study abroad fair and other campus-wide internationally-oriented events, as well as email, social media, and other electronic promotions, etc. This may include evening or weekend hours.

  • Respond to student inquiries regarding study abroad and serve as initial resource to resolve issues by independently utilizing expertise and referring to others as appropriate.

  • Provide initial advising and support to School of Business students on study abroad program opportunities, including academic year and semester exchange, faculty-led, and international internship programs.

  • Collaborate with Study Abroad on the identification and vetting of new study abroad programs and individual course opportunities for School of Business students. Coordinate communication with partner entities involved in study abroad programs.

  • Oversee the course submission portal and liaise with academic area directors on the assignment of KU-equivalent credits for courses completed abroad. Coordinate requests for transfer credit equivalencies and manage records of approved equivalencies. Collaborate with Jayhawk Academic Advising to ensure study abroad compatibility with students’ academic programs and progress toward degree.

  • Serve as representative for School of Business Study Abroad and International programs. Establish and build program relationships both internally and externally. Collaborate and coordinate communications with KU Office of Study Abroad & Engagement. Act as point of contact for other KU units, including International Affairs and KU international centers.

  • In collaboration with Study Abroad, develop data/assessment on student participation in education abroad.

  • Participate in campus-wide planning committees for internationally oriented programming (for example, International Jayhawk Festival, Global Brunch, etc.).

35% Administrative Support – Provide a broad range of administrative support for study abroad programs, including but not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support for hosting international visitors to the School of Business. Responsibilities include promoting exchange programs with partner institutions, advising, and engaging visiting exchange students, and coordinating short-term programs involving international visitors.

  • Utilize resources and databases to assist with and coordinate scholarship awards.

  • Track unit budgets and expenses.

  • Maintain school study abroad databases and track key indicators for outcomes and special distinctions. Provide data driven reports to program director, upon request.

  • Provide administrative support to School of Business faculty leading short-term study abroad programs.

  • Create or update program materials, presentations, and reports, as needed.

  • Draft communications, including social media content.

  • Review existing workflows, processes, and policies. Identify inefficiencies and assist in the development of improvements.

5% Other – Participate as a valued team member of the School of Business staff.

  • Attend business school staff and faculty (as needed) assembly meetings.

  • Participate in school and university wide committees and groups as requested.

  • Complete other job-related duties as assigned.

  • May supervise and provide leadership to student employees, including training and assigning of tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of related professional experience.

  2. Outstanding skills in written and oral communication as evidenced through interview and application materials.

  3. Documented organizational, leadership, and/or teamwork skills as evidenced through application materials.

  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, as demonstrated on application materials.

Advertised Salary Range:

$41,500 minimum, increasing with experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Degree in business, education, foreign language, international studies, or closely related field.

  2. International experience and/or competencies such as experience studying or working abroad, geographic area expertise, or foreign language competency.

  3. At least two years of experience in higher education working directly with students.

  4. Experience with relevant computerized financial and student services systems and software.

Position Overview:

The KU School of Business is seeking a Program Coordinator to promote and manage student involvement in study abroad, develop and implement international programs and initiatives, interface with other KU units, and engage with external partners. The Program Coordinator will administer the application process for School of Business scholarships for study abroad, track program budgets and expenses, develop communication materials, and create social media for international initiatives. This position may supervise student workers.

This is a full-time, 12-month, staff position reporting to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, who serves as the Director of Study Abroad for the School of Business. It is designated as an on-campus position. Alternative and flexible work schedules may be evaluated as per KU policy and School guidelines. Office will be located in beautiful Capitol Federal Hall, a 166,500 square foot modern facility that the School of Business has called home since 2016.
