The University of Kansas Health System NURSE MANAGER - AMBULATORY in Lawrence, Kansas

The Nurse Manager manage specific administrative functions, (*and nursing functions) related to the operations of the clinic assigned. This includes but is not limited to ongoing clinical workflow analysis, working toward best practice principles/guidelines, and participation in change management processes.

  • Compiles/analyzes data, prepares and presents statistical information on department performance, productivity, activity, budget to administration. Uses total quality management methods to improve performance and processes

  • Ensures the development and delivery of nursing education to staff.

  • Evaluates performance and recommends promotions and/or disciplinary actions

  • Helps establish/implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems for the assigned administrative needs

  • Helps fiscal management and other administrative staff to develop/implement cost effective policies and procedures for all operational areas including bookkeeping, billing, insurance, fee schedules, credit/collections, purchasing, data processing and space planning

  • Maintains oversight of clinical staff who maintain and utilize (entering, removing, scanning, etc.) electronic medical record data

  • Participates in professional development activities to keep current with health care trends and practices

  • Participates in the development and implementation of long-range plans and budgets; monitors and controls clinic expenditure within budget

  • Resolves problems in administrative areas and ensures compliance with regulations and standards

  • Selects, trains/orients, and supervises departmental personnel. Responsible for work assignment and daily operations and clinic flow. Directs and supervises nursing services in accordance with governmental and other regulatory standards.

  • Serves as liaison between clinic and external agencies -

  • Works with medical staff to ensure quality patient care and services are provided, including nursing care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance and restoration of patients' health and wellness; suggests solutions to patient care problems

• Bachelor's degree in health or business administration


• Registered Nurse in State of Kansas

• BLS Certification

• Minimum of five years of business management experience including three years managing a Clinic

• Minimum of five years professional nursing experience including two years supervisory level


• Master's Degree


• Professional Nursing Certification
