Actalent Controls And Automation Engineer in Lawrence, Kansas

Actalent is hiring Controls Engineers to support our Clients across the Kansas City Metro!

Description:

Provides technical expertise for programming installation and maintenance of new and existing equipment to ensure product quality and continuous improvement to the manufacturing processes. Responsible for troubleshooting manufacturing/support equipment while keeping safety as priority. Provide training and technical support to production and skilled trade team members.

Ensure that operator safety devices function properly.

Ability to perform electrical diagnosis, recommend repair or repair as needed

Support goal of achieving first time quality and efficiency.

Maintain accurate documentation resulting in shared knowledge of issues and lessons learned.

Troubleshoot and train others on identifying root causes of equipment failures.

Oversee all upgrades and programming changes.

Ensure that line is built in accordance to all aspects of the latest version of the LMV Automotive Systems build standards.

Utilize good working knowledge of all technologies used in the development and build of automated assembly lines.

Ensure effective deployment of all available resources.

Develop and implement innovative solutions to manufacturing issues related to product development or enhancement.

Evaluate and make recommendation on equipment updates.

Troubleshoot programming failures and make adjustments as necessary.

Evaluates and makes recommendations on new equipment.

Sets up new programs, PLC ladder logic, robot interfacing and documentation.

Implements improvements in cycle time of robotic welding and assemblies.

Trains personnel in the use of robot interfacing and PLC ladder logic.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

Prefer 4 year Electrical Engineer degree

Two year degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and/or 4 years job related experience

Must Have's:

Complete understanding of PLCs and programming with the ability to program/teach robots.

Excellent interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with associates, customers and vendors.

Proficient computer skills required.

Able to prepare, read, write and interpret reports, instructions, procedures and business correspondence.

Able to clearly and effectively respond to questions from management and customers.

Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, requirements and business correspondences.

Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts as appropriate.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Years of Experience:

2+ years of controls engineering experience, preferable in fast paced manufacturing or automotive

Nice to Have's:

Understanding of metal stamping, spot welding and assembly processes

Electrical knowledge (National Electrical Code) and control wiring
