Summary/Objective:

Primary duty is to provide overall management of the transportation, donation centers, salvage and recycling department. Includes hiring of qualified candidates for all positions in the transportation department. Working closely and professionally with salvage and recycling buyers, to support sustainability and the Goodwill Mission. Position ensures that equipment is maintained and functioning at all times, the warehouse is organized and operated with maximum efficiency, and work areas are clean and free from safety hazards. Ensures that all maintenance requests and purchase orders are completed and tracked. To fulfill mission statement.

Education/Experience:

Must possess strong interpersonal skills in dealing with customers and employees. Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics. Must be experienced with the Kaizen method of process improvement. Current Class CDL-A with an insurable driving record preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

Minimum of five year’s work experience in the retail transportation environment. Prefer profit and loss, sales or cost management accountability experience.

Must be able to administer all phases of warehouse management. Must have sufficient competence to command the respect and confidence of workers, both within the organization and outside in the community at large.

Essential Functions:

As a member of the staff, sets an example for subordinates. Is responsible for the administration of Transportation, Attended Donation Center Sites and Warehouse personnel.

Operations:

  • Responsible for all Goodwill Industries of Kansas, Inc. Warehouse operations.

  • Effectively manage to ensure proper adherence by staff to policies and procedures.

  • Resolve employee and customer issues in a timely and professional manner in accordance with Goodwill Industries policies and standards.

  • Direct the activities of all Transportation, ADC site, and warehouse personnel in accordance with Goodwill Industries policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT), federal and state regulations.

  • Ensures that all equipment (e.g., tractors, trailers, miscellaneous dock and materials handling equipment) have maintenance policies and that they are consistently followed.

  • Responsible for the efficient collection and transportation of refuse.

  • Responsible for the efficient transportation and storage of donated goods.

  • Responsible for safety/legal requirements.

  • Ensures that all required forklift training is provided for essential Goodwill employees.

  • Ensures that all required paperwork is processed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Ensures timely dispatch of product and empty equipment to and from ADCs, retail stores, industrial services and transportation hubs.

  • Responsible for developing and implementing a formal Transportation and Warehouse plan.
