Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking an emerging mid-level Civil Engineer with 3-5 years of experience for our Cheyenne WY office. This position will support civil, mining, water resources, and environmental engineering projects for our state, municipal, and private clients.

The successful candidate will support work related to water supply and storage projects and environmental compliance, including hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, air quality permitting, SPCC plans, report preparation, engineering design, permit applications, preparation of construction and bid packages, and construction management. This early career level position will require some travel to remote sites.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work on technical aspects of design for a wide variety of municipal projects including water and sewer piping system, lift station projects, water storage and pumping and water reuse projects. Participate in all phases of project planning, design, cost estimating, bidding and construction.

  • Analyze engineering data, prepare design calculations, interpret plans and specifications, and make sound decisions.

  • Review and create hydraulic and hydrologic computer models.

  • Review and create technical memoranda and reports.

  • Review and create air permit applications and environmental compliance reports.

  • Review and create SPCC plans and conduct site inspections.

  • Design of hydraulic structures.

  • Design of pipelines and related municipal infrastructure.

  • Review and create project manuals and specifications.

  • Prepare construction cost estimates.

  • Administer construction contracts and observe construction.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and pursing a PE license.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in use of CAD, GIS, WaterGEMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or FLO-2D

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and put in additional time needed to meet project deliverable deadlines.

  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time for meetings, field work, construction oversight, and to support project teams in other offices.

  • Ability to work independently to ensure that client needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Promote cooperation and teamwork among all Wenck members and offices.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with clients and project teams.

  • Entrepreneurial, hard-working and enjoys learning.

  • Ability to interact with Contractors and manage potential conflicts in the field

Education and Experience

  • Engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering school, with an emphasis in civil, water resources or environmental engineering.

  • MS degree in civil engineering is preferred.

LOCATION OF POSITION: Cheyenne Wyoming. The successful candidate must live or be willing to relocate to Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Indoor (Office Environment) Activities are performed in an enyvironmentally controlled office setting. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversation. Majority of time spent using a computer/laptop at a workstation and related office equipment. Time spent carrying, reaching, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling up to 9 kilograms / 20 pounds Occasional – 1-33% of shift. Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment if needed.
