BHC RHODES Survey Technician - CAD in Kansas City, Kansas


The Survey Technician works from surveyor field notes, sketches, maps, photos and other material to develop deliverables for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and private development and municipal projects under supervision.

  • Work cooperatively in a project team setting

  • Set up file structures to manage CAD drawing production in accordance with BHC RHODES standards

  • Understand CAD requirements for a given project based on client or BHC RHODES standards.

  • Apply CAD software tools for scaling, coordinate grids, reference files, dimensioning, blocks/cell manipulation and 3D modeling.

  • Produce spread sheets when necessary for managing data and importing into the CAD files

  • Uses knowledge to work independently. However, uses good judgement in seeking help/answers to questions from project supervisor when necessary.


  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1 year of survey drafting experience required.

  • Experience working in MicroStation.

  • Prefer a college or technical school Degree or be working towards proficiency in applications such as AutoCad, Civil 3D.

  • Must be willing to pursue and participate in continuing education.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word

  • Ability to think independently, learn quickly, and produce work with few errors.
