The University of Kansas Health System Pre/Post Unit Coordinator in KANSAS CITY, Kansas

We currenlty have a nigt shift Unit Coordinator opening in Pre/Post (PACU) from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

With its nationally verified Level I Trauma Center, the hospital provides emergency surgical services around the clock. In addition, our surgical teams perform many advanced and highly complex surgical procedures. These specialized services draw patients from throughout the Kansas City area, state of Kansas and many midwestern states. The hospital attracts national and international attention as a frequent trial site for new surgical devices and procedures. Often these are technologically intense procedures using robotics, computer-enhanced imaging, video, fiber optics and other devices to increase precision and minimize incision size. The coordination of staff, supplies and equipment to care for surgical patients during and after surgery demands teamwork, critical thinking and attention to detail.

The Unit Coordinator provides charge nurse responsibilities, including assignments, management of throughput, staffing to matrix, and responding to patient and staff needs. Manages a patient care assignment as indicated by patient care needs. Assists with hiring, education and performance evaluation of the staff. Works with the Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff. Instructs staff and ensures compliance with standards through daily on-going monitoring and performance management. Serves as a role model and mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction. Takes personal responsibility for achieving productivity targets and budget compliance. Has primary involvement and responsibility for unit performance improvement activities and outcomes.

Required:

  • BLS Certification

  • Registered Nurse in State of Kansas required

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing required

Preferred:

  • 2 years of clinical experience

  • Professional Nursing Certification
