Cargill Packaging Technician in Kansas City, Kansas

Cargill Feed & Nutrition provides customized animal nutrition solutions to customers across the Americas, Europe and Asia. We operate some of the most technologically advanced plants in the world, but they can't run by themselves - we depend on creative, responsible, hardworking individuals like you.

Packaging Technicians are responsible for the manufacturing and shipping of pet food.

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 4:00 pm – 12:00 am.

Compensation: $19.00 - $21.00/hr USD

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Operate packaging control panel(s), in a knowledgeable and proficiency manner.

  • Move product, opening bin gates and switching diverters.

  • Inspect the product to guarantee all required quality standards are met, this would include correct product, color, size, density and mixed product.

  • Set up line precisely; this would include date code, weight, conveyor, glue, sewing and heat seal process.

  • Insure all products are packaged accurately; products on correct bag, tags and stickers applied as necessary.

  • Insure the palletizer is set up properly for products. Keep filled with clean, empty skids and cardboard at all times. Take away and keep warehouse organized.

  • Maintain correct count of number of pallets and finish goods and Manually palletize when necessary as efficiency dictates.

  • Manufacture products to ensure that they meet specifications, and HACCP requirements

  • Obtain samples as required by Quality Assurance.

  • Minimize start-up and change-over times working as efficiently as possible.

  • Notify Supervisor of progress and any problems.

  • Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations.

  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility.

  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, and climbing safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment.

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written).

  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice.

  • At least 2 years of experience in production related work.


  • Able to perform physical job duties which may include crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Able to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above).

  • Forklift certified.

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Basic use of a computer and typing skills.

  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.

  • Working knowledge of Inventory Systems.
