Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

The Machine Operator works on the production team to operate production machinery, aiding in the plant’s processes and operational tasks. This role involves working with a variety of equipment, including a Programmable Plasma Table, Programmable Steel Saw, Programmable Angle Master, Programmable Plate Roller, Press Breaks, Drill Press, and Iron Worker. Machine Operators are also responsible for performing regular maintenance checks to ensure proper machine functioning. They are trained on various safety guidelines and regulations and must carefully follow procedures and protocols to ensure safe and efficient machine operation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment and machinery.

  • Setting up manufacturing equipment and loading cut programs.

  • Reading and following blueprints, schematics, and written kitting SWI instructions in support of production.

  • Material handling and movement of steel kits to fabrication areas.

  • Movement of parts from WIP to Assembly.

  • Unloading trucks and tracking steel inventory.

  • Helping to move finished weldments to and from paint.

  • Assisting in assembly and organization of the fabrication kit area.

  • Cleaning and maintaining the Plasma Table.

  • Transferring parts/weldments between facilities.

  • Acting as a parts runner and assisting with Plate Roller operations.

  • Managing the person and trash dumpster.

  • Using machine equipment to complete tasks.

  • Performing routine inspections of manufacturing equipment.

  • Evaluating the efficiency of each unit regularly.

  • Identifying and making improvements by adjusting equipment parts.

  • Managing time efficiently to meet project deadlines.

  • Following all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines to prevent accidents or illness.

  • Performing other duties as assigned by management.

Essential Skills

  • High Level of Organizational Skills

  • 3+ years of industrial machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 3+ years of experience using computerized machinery

  • Prior OSHA and MSHA Training

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and future random drug testing

  • Ability to work overtime as needed to meet production deadlines

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be age 18 or older

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred

  • Excellent ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals

  • Competency with basic math and measuring skills

  • Excellent mechanical skills, including comfort in using tools to make simple repairs

  • Possesses an approachable and positive demeanor

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

  • Extremely safety-conscious and knowledgeable on OSHA and MSHA regulations

  • Follows rules, instructions, and procedures for safe equipment operation

  • Great time management skills

  • Solution-oriented

  • Proficient verbal communication skills

  • Keen attention to detail to identify maintenance, product, or operations issues

  • Flexible to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines

Work Environment

Shift: 6am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday with overtime on Fridays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Kansas City, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $49920.00/yr.

1st shift M-Th with 3 day weekends, no layoffs, 401k retirement plan, medical, HSA, dental, vision, 8 company-paid holidays. They like to cross train and promote from within

This is a fully onsite position in Kansas City,KS.
