At Kansas City International Airport, we are part of Kansas City Airport Partners , the company formed to develop the airport’s concession program and provide management. As managing partner, the onsite Vantage team provides oversight and management for the day-to-day operation and overall development.
We are looking for a self-motivated and results-driven Commercial Manager to support the management of the new concessions program including the project’s day-to-day business activities within the newly constructed terminal. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Vantage’s ongoing success and be involved in a new innovative business model.
Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the entire commercial team, the Commercial Manager provides operational support to the concession program at Kansas City International Airport.
This position is based in Kansas City, MO. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and proactively to provide project management as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key partners, their local teams, corporate staff, and senior executives.
Establish, manage and maintain excellent relationships with external representatives and stakeholders including Kansas City Aviation Department (the client), vendors, concession partners, adjacent businesses, local regulatory agencies/departments, and local community groups.
Maintain a strong working relationship with all concession partners
Provide input to the yearly budget as it relates to the concession operations
In partnership with the General Manager and Finance Department, develop common area maintenance budgets and ensure subtenants are correctly billed
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all concession partners and staff
Observe and evaluate concession partner operations to ensure compliance with Lease requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, and work constructively with concession partners to resolve issues as they arise
Assist in the preparation, procurement, and/or administration of contracts needed to promote efficient operations of the concessions business
Develop and manage a customer experience program that may include mystery shops, passenger engagement surveys, employee incentives, and employee training to ensure the highest level of customer service to passengers.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual operations reports as needed to partners, the client, and executives
Review and understand concession operator sales and key performance indicators to ensure revenue generation is maximized and any issues are reported quickly
Act as the liaison between key stakeholders for the safe and efficient operation of the program
Ensure regular reporting and coordination with the General Manager
Ad hoc projects as assigned
You have at least three years’ experience in a food & beverage, retail, or multi-unit management environment, with a demonstrated ability to lead the management and operation of a food & beverage or retail business. Ideally, you have previous experience in the development and implementation of concession programs or management of multi-unit operations. Strong project management experience is a requirement. Your professional experience is supplemented by a relevant degree from an accredited university. You are a collaborative team player who also enjoys working independently and are comfortable working with a diverse set of stakeholders. Additionally, you have:

Demonstrated business acumen coupled with strategic, analytical and creative skills
An ability to manage multiple projects, while staying on budget and delivering on time without compromising quality
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and,
A passion for learning
