The College Access Advisor is responsible for the enrollment of eligible participants in each region. They establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with all referral agencies. The College Access Advisor plans life skill and cultural activities, completes the College Access Plan(CAP)on each student in the region and sets up meetings with College Access Mentors or other partners to make sure services outlined on the CAP are provided. Travel is required. Minimum EducationBachelor's Degree or higher in education, counseling or related field. Minimum ExperienceAt least 2 years academic advising experience.Successful experience working with diverse populations.Demonstrated commitment to diversity. Knowledge, skills and abilitiesDemonstrated ability to coordinate activities and projects for large numbers of staff, students, and parents.Demonstrated ability to communicate with and provide positive support to students, parents, and families.General knowledge of problems facing low-income and foster care students.Excellent communication skills.Excellent writing skills including reports and student file notes.Working knowledge of computers including word-processing, spreadsheets and databases. Required Licenses, Certificates & RegistrationsValid Driver's license Preferred ExperienceDemonstrated experience in successfully implementing programs in middle or high schools.Knowledge of the education systems and assessments in the State of Kansas.Foster Care experience.Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting low income students and students in foster care.
