The Clinical Affairs Liaison serves as the primary liaison for all Clinical Affairs activities and presents updates to and reports out on project management integration status to leadership and executives. This individual will serve as the primary liaison to work with Clinical Service Chiefs and department administrators to develop tactical department plans based on Health System strategic goals. The Liaison will partner closely with leadership through regular meetings to discuss performance to meet Health System goals, build upon successes, and understand any barriers or obstacles. This role will play a key role in engaging the Clinical Affairs team and leaders to address any challenges to success.

  • Serve as primary clinical department resource for understanding their clinical affairs needs related to department performance, quality improvement projects, staffing, and health system initiatives.

  • Works with Clinical Affairs, Business Strategic Development, Clinical Service Chiefs, Department Administrators, and other key leaders to develop tactical plans based on Health System strategic goals.

  • Provide onsite campus leadership support and relationship management on strategic and tactical priorities in the following integration domains:

  • Data Driven Approach to Management

  • Infrastructure (incl. Digital Front Door)

  • Governance and Decision Making

  • Culture

  • Shared Services

  • Clinically Integrated Physician Group

  • Clinical Operating System and Services Lines (incl. Virtual Health Hub/Second Opinion Model)

  • Present updates to and report outs on weekly and monthly project management on department status to Campus leadership and System executives.

  • Provide input and insight to strategic local and system decisions impacting departments .

  • Provide detailed and concise communication across all cross functional areas and manage key stakeholders to bring projects to successful completion.

  • Provide strategic insight to the functional teams that will execute on system strategies.

  • Contribute to all aspects of the pre- and post-transaction integration process, including hand-offs from due diligence, development of project plans for full integration and cross-functional project management for these locations.

  • Identify potential risks and recommends corresponding solutions to system integration projects.

  • Identify root causes when projects are at risk; collaborate with others within the organization to conduct deep dives and improve project plans.

  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

  • Navigate difficult environments with political sensitivities, low morale, change fatigue, and multiple leadership changes.

  • Partner with key leaders to support organizational changes.

  • Exhibit professional presence and confidence to direct and manage complex organizational changes.

  • Coordinate the end-to-end cross-functional timeline for clinical affairs projects, while executing on tasks to deliver against strict deadlines.

  • Role requires attention to detail, audience, and outcomes.


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Five years of healthcare strategy or operations experience


  • Master's degree

  • Existing knowledge of The University of Kansas Health System organizational assets, processes and relationships
