POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Physical Therapy Assistant will perform patient care programs under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The CPTA will follow treatment protocols as outlined by the Physical Therapist.
- The CPTA will follow that Physical Therapy policy and procedure manual and will adhere to the hospital manual for personnel policies and procedures.
- The CPTA will maintain proper patient documentation as outlined by the Physical Therapist.
- The CPTA will be responsible for maintaining their Kansas registration to practice therapy.
- The CPTA will provide in-service education programs to support hospital staff.
- The CPTA will perform equipment maintenance and clean departmental areas as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- The CPTA will perform any necessary department clerical duties as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- The CPTA will be responsible for the overall management of the department in the absence of the P.T.
DEGREE OF LATITUDE
Can do formal assessments but must follow all other protocols as directed by the Physical Therapist.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be physically able to lift, move, or reposition therapy patients. Must be physically able to lift or move equipment within the department. Will handle cleaning detergents and antiseptic agents used for cleaning equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Education
Must be a graduate of an accredited two-year collegiate program recognized by appropriate national/state agencies.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations
Must be registered and certified by the State of Kansas and have proof of sponsorship by a Physical Therapist licensed by the State of Kansas.
Special Knowledge or Skills
Commensurate with their education and training.
Prior Experience
Prior experience preferred but not mandatory.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Must present a neat and professional appearance and must be personable with patients and staff.
