ABOUT THE JOB
+ In Iola, we specialize in the production of hydraulic hoses, created in all sizes and dimensions
+ Our process starts with raw materials - braided, heated, and shaped around a metal pole or rubber mandrel to meet specific orders. When finished, our hoses are marked with the Gates logo and shipped to customers around the world.
+ A Maintenance Apprentice will spend most of their day performing and maintaining preventive maintenance, breakdowns, equipment installation, and troubleshooting.
+ Shifts available:
+ Night Shift
+ Must be able to perform physical tasks, lifting up to 75 lbs.
+ Must be able to work 40 hours per week, plus overtime, with reliable and consistent attendance
+ Must have good communication skills, with the ability to carry out written and verbal instruction
+ Basic reading, math, computer, and measurement skills required
+ Must be knowledgeable of OSHA safety requirements, especially those related to electrical and mechanical operations and components
+ Possess a knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-mechanical and other mechanical devices
+ Must be able to handle multiple tasks, have excellent attention to detail, and be willing and able to learn new technologies quickly
+ Ability to work in a team environment
+ Understanding of mechanical systems; willingness to work with hand tools
+ At least one year of experience of electrical/mechanical troubleshooting and repair preferred
+ Working knowledge of industrial control circuit design preferred
+ Networking experience with EtherNet/IP, ControlNet and DeviceNet preferred
+ Knowledge of PowerFlex drives, servo drives and motors, motor control centers, programmable controllers, and sensors preferred
+ Must have own tools to complete responsible tasks
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Temperatures may vary in accordance with weather conditions and may be extreme. Gates is managed in compliance with OSHA guidelines and requires all employees to wear steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
