JOB SUMMARY:

Provide hand-on assistance to the production and flight lines assessing any functional, process and other system nonconformances for all mechanical systems on current Textron Aviation aircraft under manufacture in Independence, KS.These systems include Propulsion, Environmental Control, Landing Gear/Brakes, Hydraulics, Ice Protection, and Flight Controls.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Liaison engineering activity between Production/Flight Line and design groups located globally.

  • Answer drawing/specification questions and provide engineering support to production personnel.

  • Troubleshoot aircraft systems that do not meet functional test requirements to determine root cause.

  • Review part/assembly nonconformance rejections; Apply engineering judgment to develop repairs for minor deviations from FAA Type Design working in an MRB environment.

  • Identify and resolve repetitive system issues to improve Flight Line efficiency.

  • Request design or functional test specification changes to improve Production efficiency.

  • Work with Vendors to improve the acceptance rate of their components during functional testing.

  • Coordinate with Production, Flight Line and TxtAv Engineering departments such as Project Design, Flight Test, Propulsion, Flight Controls, Avionics and Electrical, Acoustics, Hydraulics and Landing Gear, Environmental Controls and/or Ice Protection.

  • Document above activities with reports and presentations as required.

  • Additional duties as defined by department management.

  • Occasional evening and weekend support may be required to support aircraft deliveries.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree required in Mechanical Engineering,Aerospace Engineering, or relative technical degree.

QUALIFICATIONS:

+

Strong mechanical aptitude. Experience with hand tools is desirable.

  • Ability to read blueprints is desirable.

  • Excellent people skills with ability to competently interact with all levels of personnel.

  • Proficiency in use of standard Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience in CATIA, ENOVIA and SAP is desirable.

  • Professional and diplomatic demeanor.

  • Task management skills to support multiple concurrent projects.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate a strong ability to complete tasks in a timely mannerwith minimumsupervision.

  • Familiarity with aircraft systems (landing gear, flight controls, hydraulics, pressurization, propulsion, vapor cycle air conditioning, doors and hatches, brakes) is desirable.

  • Pilot’s license, A&P rating and/or applicable hands-on aircraft experience are desirable.
