Basic Function
Under direction, leads and participates in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leads all employees at the Water Treatment Plant
Leads the effort to and is passionate about providing safe and enjoyable drinking water in compliance with all state, federal and local regulations
Leads the maintenance and reliability of the Water Treatment Plant
Leads the safe storage and use of all chemicals
Leads minor repair to the plant equipment and related facilities
Ensures that standard laboratory tests are run on schedule
Monitors and maintains chemical levels and feed flows, anticipating seasonal variation
Inspects equipment for defects on a regular basis
Maintains plant buildings and grounds at a high standard, prepared for all inspections
Leads in the interviewing, training, and development of new operators
Prepares operating reports and assures compliance at the highest level
Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and operation of a water plant
Knowledge of methods, equipment, materials and tools used to repair water treatment equipment
Ability to inspect and diagnose maintenance and repair needs
Ability to supervise the work of others
Ability to teach and train subordinates in the maintenance and operation of the plant
Ability to maintain records and make reports
