Overview

Job Objective: In this temporary position, part time position, the Intake Worker will assess individuals/families for eligibility for services. The Intake Workers will also supervise the residents who are living in the facility.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Pre-screen individuals/families that are in need of emergency assistance for eligibility both in person and on the phone

  • Provide linkages with appropriate agencies/community resources

  • Complete intake process

  • Completion of daily, weekly, monthly documentation, including client interviews, Assistance Information System forms in a timely and accurate manner

  • Model appropriate social and interpersonal interaction

  • Participate in staff trainings (Blood Borne Pathogens, Safe From Harm, First Aid, etc.)

  • As part of The Salvation Army, comply with all confidentiality laws applying to social services

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: G.E.D or High School Diploma is required. College experience preferred

Experience: Direct experience in Social Services (volunteer or paid position) preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age

Certifications/Licenses: None

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work with a diverse population

  • Good communication skills (oral and written)

  • Emotional maturity, honesty and flexibility

  • Good organizational skills

  • Supportive of administrative and program objectives

  • Ability to operate office equipment including telephone, personal computer, copier, fax and scanning equipment

Physical Requirements: Include speaking, hearing and vision ability, and manual; bending, squatting, walking; sitting and standing for extended periods of time; lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job.

Working Conditions:Work is performed in typical office environment; will require weekend and holiday hours.
